123 - Stephanie Scapa, CEO of Weyv

Read Show Notes

**SPECIAL NOTE** - Unfortunately Weyv is no longer available Stephanie wanted me to give you this special message.

We are saddened to announce that effective tomorrow, August 9, 2019, the WEYV app will no longer be available. We thank you for being with us as we aimed to build a robust, multi-content entertainment app. While we are disappointed that our efforts did not result in the outcome we had hoped for, we walk away with unforgettable experiences and lessons learned.

Now you may ask why are you still airing this episode and the reason is simple although Weyv may be no more, Stephanie has a huge amount of experience and shares some brilliant knowledge bombs during this episode.

Stephanie Scapa is the Co-Founder & CEO of WEYV, a platform that allows users to listen to music, read magazines and (soon) listen to podcasts all in a single app experience. While competition is fierce with established brands like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon, Stephanie is on a mission to unite friends and families through shared access to ALL of the premium entertainment and quality content that binds them together.

Not only has Stephanie led efforts surrounding the development of the app, but she is also a skilful negotiator, having successfully secured deals with major record labels and publishing companies like TIME Inc., Bonnier Corp., Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment, in order to offer their content to WEYV users.

Under Stephanie’s leadership, WEYV has been built on a patented digital content licensing model where content providers are fairly compensated in proportion to the amount of time their content is accessed. This is a revolutionary model for content providers to monetize their intellectual property.

Stephanie is also an accomplished philanthropist having founded Tech Treehouse in 2016, a Metro Detroit-based non-profit providing after-school STEM activities to children, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan.

061 - Jeff McManus: Growing Weeders to Leaders

Read Show Notes

Jeff McManus grows things. As the Director of Landscape Services at the University of Mississippi, he grows plants…he grows people…he grows ideas. Jeff is a problem-solver, understanding that doing more with less is a 21st-century mandate.

Faced with a multi-million dollar landscaping beautification project, a demand for excellence, high productivity, and with a stagnant budget, Jeff knew that growing the people was critical to growing the plants.

Understanding that all humans either have or strive for the innate elements of Greatness, Resiliency, Opportunity and Wisdom, Jeff developed his GROW-theory into an impactful management and professional development leadership program for his staff.

Melanie Curtis is a coach, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and professional skydiver. Melanie’s clients are like her… intense Type-A personalities, vibrant in their energy, fierce in their values, impeccable in their integrity, human and lovely in their emotions, working to contribute positively to the world, and willing to do whatever it takes…

As a lover of both nature and NYC, Melanie splits her time between the two to nurture her personal network and entrepreneurial pursuits. Melanie believes love and hilarity are the two most important things in life, in that order, and after taking a stand-up comedy class has that much more respect and appreciation for professional comedians.

A Middlebury College and iPec Coaching graduate, fierce coach, intensely driven entrepreneur, and comically authentic speaker and connector, Melanie has jumped out of an airplane 10,000 times, worked professionally in the sport of skydiving for many years, founded her own company, traveled the world challenging the model of mobile entrepreneurship, and extracts usable insight and hilarity in everything she writes and all content she creates. Mel is exceptionally talented at relating the bigger concepts of identifying fear and clarifying values to the specific situations particular leaders and groups face. She’s crazy good at situational and interpersonal integration of concept and accountable action. Mel connects in this way just as powerfully with a group as she does in an intimate one-on-one coaching conversation.

However, after a revolutionary insight one evening, Derek was able to turn his life and business around by adopting the philosophy of running his life and business by Daily Standards.

You have heard of superstar business gurus who seem to have led a charmed life, having success after success in their 20’s and throughout their lives. This is not the path that Derek Mills took.

Derek speaks about the critical ONE THING which causes millions of would be entrepreneurs and businesses to fail.  Derek shares his life stories and experience to reveal the truth. For him, there is no theory, but a life of suffering and then revelation about how we each need to live and how we must run our businesses in order to connect with more customers and clients and to make us stand apart from any crowd.

Author of The 10-Second Philosophy®, Derek is the coach’s coach and the adviser’s adviser. He speaks and lives authentically and shares how every business owner and leader can do the same for massive impact using the Daily Standards philosophy and practices. The principles have been shared by Derek on 5 continents.

From being broke and depressed after discovering the critical ONE THING,  he made his first £1M within 3 years with the same products and services, in the same role, where he’d been previously failing.

015 - Geoff Nicholson: Planning for Success

Read Show Notes

Firstly let me take the time to wish you a Happy New Year and I hope that 2017 is filled with happiness and success.

This weeks episode is a little different than usual as there are not guest joining me to share their story and knowledge, this week I am going to share with you four strategies that I use to plan my year and which I use with my clients to plan their year for success.

  1. Reflect: Its is important to think about your past successes and failures in order to plan for the upcoming year.
  2. Creating the plan: I combine an old fashioned wall planner with my love for technology and apps.  My choice is Evernote and Trello which I use to create a visual plan that is colour coded for all the different categories I need to plan for.
  3. Break it into Quarters: I have found that in order to remove the overwhelm of having hundreds of goals it is easier to break the year into four sections and then focus on 3 key outcomes each quarter.
  4. Power of Accountability: Your targets and goals should not be a secret, using the power of sharing your plan with people you know and trust can be extremely useful in maintaining momentum and reaching your targets.

004 - Lisa Dadd: Happiness and Defining Success

Read Show Notes

In today's show Geoff is joined by Lisa Dadd in discussing the importance of happiness and defining your success

Lisa Dadds Bio:

After completing a Master’s of Science degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Western Ontario, Lisa entered the corporate world of health care.  Spending nearly fifteen years in various sales, marketing and management roles before making a decision to abandon the corporate life in an effort to finding more meaning and purpose in her life.  She wrote about the experience in her first book Finding Fabulous: Paving the Path Between Paycheck and Passion.

Taking her own advice, Lisa has intentionally redesigned her life to allow more time and flexibility to travel, learn new skills, and explore new business opportunities. Blurring the lines between work and play, Lisa’s greatest inspirations have come from her adventures driving across North America with her dog and hiking to places like the Base Camp of Mt. Everest and Machu Picchu. Splitting her time between her lakefront cottage in Northern Ontario and sunny Southern California, Lisa exemplifies what Finding Fabulous is all about.

Currently, Lisa writes, consults and speaks on topics related to career and lifestyle redesign.  Combining fifteen years of strategic business skills with real-life experience, Lisa provides practical, relevant advice for anyone tired of feeling stuck and ready to take action.  To read more about her journey of Finding Fabulous, or to inquire about having her speak to your organisation, visit www.lisadadd.com or email info@lisadadd.com.
